Topics

Every fix and compatibility answer, grouped by what it affects. A page can sit under more than one topic when a problem spans them — a controller that drops out over Bluetooth belongs to both.

How topics work

A topic is what broke, not what you own

Topics group problems by the component at fault — the graphics driver, the audio stack, the Steam client — rather than by vendor or product line. A problem is usually easier to find by symptom than by the name on the box, and the same fix often applies across several vendors.

Counts are published pages, not open problems

The number on each topic is how many pages exist for it right now. A small count means less has been written, not that the area is trouble-free. Topics with no published pages are not listed at all, because a topic page with nothing on it is a dead end with an extra click in front of it.

Pages can appear under more than one topic

Problems rarely respect boundaries. A game that will not launch after a driver update is filed under both PC gaming and graphics drivers, so the same page can turn up in either place rather than being buried under whichever label was picked first.

The rules behind all of this are written down in the editorial standards, and the publishing system enforces them. Found a fix that is wrong, outdated, or unsafe? Tell us — corrections are handled before new pages.
